Three employees of the ISKCON New Vrindavan East Trust, located in Khar West, Mumbai, have been booked by police for allegedly siphoning off donation funds. The accused, identified as Prem Prakash Rana and Harsh Kumar Kaushal, along with an unidentified accomplice, reportedly issued fake receipts and diverted funds into a personal account. The fraud came to light following complaints from devotees who were asked to make cash payments or transfer money to unauthorized accounts. For instance, Satyavrat Gaud reported being asked to pay cash for a meal and received a receipt with a GST number not linked to the trust. Another devotee, Shreya Torane, was given a staff member's mobile number for a money transfer when she refused to pay cash for a room. An internal inquiry revealed that the accused had set up a parallel entity named 'Nav Madhuban Ashram Trust' to mislead devotees. Police suspect the fraud has been ongoing since 2022 and is currently investigating the total amount involved. A case was registered on March 29 under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, following a complaint from founder trustee Hirishkesh Mafatlal.
