On Sunday, police in Amritsar, Punjab, India, dismantled a cross-border heroin smuggling operation, arresting two individuals and recovering a total of 4.13 kg of heroin. The first suspect, Atish Suman from Phagwara, was initially found with 220 grams of heroin, which increased to 890 grams after further interrogation. His associate, Sawinder Singh alias Sundri, was arrested in Amritsar Rural with 3.24 kg of heroin. Authorities revealed that the suspects were in contact with Europe-based drug handlers and part of a larger network that reportedly utilized drones for smuggling. Both individuals have prior criminal records linked to the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the Arms Act. A case has been registered at the Sultanwind police station in Amritsar, and investigations are ongoing to identify additional members of the smuggling network.
