Britain is bracing for a challenging Easter weekend as the Met Office issues warnings for 70mph winds coming from Canada. The adverse weather is expected to bring cold, wet conditions starting from Good Friday, with significant impacts forecasted for the north of England, North Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. Yellow weather warnings for wind will be in place on Saturday, with potential disruptions to road, rail, air, and ferry transport. The AA estimates that 21.7 million journeys are planned for the weekend, making it one of the busiest travel periods of the year. Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist Dan Holley explained that a deep area of low pressure will develop, leading to very strong winds, particularly overnight into Easter Sunday. While the northern regions may experience gusts of 80-90 mph, southern England will see milder weather, with temperatures rising to 17C by Easter Monday. The contrasting weather patterns reflect recent rainfall figures, with the south experiencing significantly less rain than the north.
