In Mullanpur, Mohali, Rajesh Kumar, a 28-year-old man, has alleged that his brothers attempted to burn him alive due to a dispute regarding his marriage. Rajesh married against his family's wishes in 2024, which led to escalating tensions. On March 21, 2024, while charging his phone, he claims that his brother Barjesh Kumar poured petrol on him, and another brother, Rati Bhan, ignited the flames. Rajesh suffered severe burns to his face, ears, and abdomen. During the incident, their younger brother, Durvesh Kumar, attempted to intervene but was struck with an iron rod, resulting in a fractured arm. Family members rushed both injured men to a civil hospital in Kharar, where Rajesh's injuries were classified as grievous, prompting a referral to GMCH in Chandigarh. Following medical reports, police registered an FIR against the accused brothers under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including attempted murder.
