Minal Patel, the widow of Dhrumil Patel who died following a crash in Vidyavihar, Mumbai, has escalated her legal fight by petitioning the Children’s Court to revoke the bail granted to the 17-year-old accused. The crash occurred on February 5 when the minor allegedly collided with the couple's scooter, resulting in critical injuries to both. Dhrumil succumbed to his injuries on February 15, leading police to charge the minor with culpable homicide not amounting to murder and other violations under the Motor Vehicles Act. Minal's plea, filed through advocate Ruben Mascarenhas, argues that the Juvenile Justice Board's decision to grant bail on March 6 neglected significant evidence, including the minor's history of reckless driving and social media posts showcasing dangerous stunts. The application claims that the minor's deletion of his Instagram accounts during the investigation indicates potential evidence tampering. Furthermore, Minal asserts that an alleged offer of ₹40 lakh (approximately $48,000 USD) to her family represents an attempt to undermine the legal process. She urges the court to either place the minor in an observation home during the trial or impose stricter bail conditions to prevent witness intimidation.
