The Amritsar Commissionerate Police in Punjab, India, made significant progress in their anti-drug operations by arresting two suspects, Atish Suman (22) and Sukhwinder alias Sunder (28), and seizing 4.13 kilograms of heroin. The police revealed that the duo was part of a larger smuggling network that procured narcotics from Pakistan using drones for distribution in the Majha and Doaba regions of Punjab. Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar indicated that the suspects had connections with handlers based in Europe and operatives currently imprisoned. This operation is part of a broader campaign against drug trafficking, which has seen the Amritsar Commissionerate Police register 488 cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act this year, leading to the arrest of 840 individuals and the recovery of over 31 kilograms of heroin along with more than ₹18 lakh (approximately $21,600 USD) in drug money. The police are committed to continuing their efforts to identify and apprehend additional members of the drug smuggling network.
