In a significant operation, the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and the Delhi Police Special Cell detained Rizwan Ahmed from Kushinagar district on suspicion of having links to the Islamic State (ISIS). The operation took place in the Chhawani area of Padrauna town, where Rizwan was arrested based on ongoing investigations by the Delhi Police. Officials suspect that he was involved in running a recruitment and radicalization network for ISIS, using his roadside chaat and golgappa cart as a cover to influence local youths. During the arrest, authorities recovered electronic devices, objectionable documents, and extremist literature, with materials related to improvised explosive device (IED) preparation under forensic examination. Rizwan has a history of terror-related arrests, having been in jail from 2017 to 2023 for a blast-related case. His detention has heightened security alerts in Kushinagar, prompting investigations into his local contacts and potential associates.
