A tragic incident occurred near Kabul, Afghanistan, when a 5.8-magnitude earthquake struck late on Friday night, killing eight members of a refugee family who had returned from war-torn Iran just 15 days earlier. The earthquake caused a wall to collapse on their makeshift tent, resulting in the deaths of the father, mother, four daughters aged between 12 and 23, and two sons. The only survivor, a three-year-old boy named Aarash, was rescued from the rubble and is currently receiving treatment for severe head injuries. Neighbors and local authorities rushed to assist in the rescue efforts, but unfortunately, it was too late for the rest of the family. The earthquake also caused damage across several provinces, affecting around 40 families. Afghanistan is situated in a seismically active region, with a history of devastating earthquakes, including a 6-magnitude quake last year that resulted in over 2,200 deaths.
