Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed administrative officials to assist farmers suffering from the recent unseasonal rainfall affecting the state. He requested district magistrates to provide reports on the impact of the rains, which have been detrimental to both standing and harvested crops. Adityanath emphasized that all necessary steps must be taken to mitigate the weather's effects and ensure that compensation for any losses, whether human or livestock, is processed within 24 hours. He warned that negligence in this matter would not be tolerated. Officials are tasked with conducting immediate assessments of crop damage, and the revenue and agriculture departments, along with insurance companies, are to collaborate on joint surveys to expedite compensation for affected farmers. Farmers are encouraged to report their crop losses and can register complaints regarding insured crops within 72 hours through a toll-free number. The weather department has forecasted further rain and thundershowers across various districts, including Lucknow, which recorded 16 mm of rainfall on Saturday.
