Google has launched a new feature called 'Skills' in its Chrome browser, aimed at enhancing user interaction with its AI chatbot, Gemini. This feature allows users to save frequently used prompts, making it easier to execute tasks without needing to re-enter commands manually. Previously, users had to type or copy-paste prompts each time they wanted to engage with Gemini. Now, with Skills, users can simply click to run their saved prompts in the current tab, and they can even add multiple tabs if necessary. The desktop version of Chrome ensures that these Skills are accessible across devices as long as users are logged into their Google accounts. Importantly, while Skills streamline the process, they still comply with security protocols, requiring user confirmation for actions that involve personal data, such as adding items to a calendar or sending messages. This enhancement not only improves efficiency but also reinforces the integration of AI tools within Chrome's interface.
