In a crackdown on corruption, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested six government officials in Delhi this week, including a junior engineer and a labourer from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). The arrests stem from a bribery case where the labourer was accused of demanding ₹80,000 to stop the demolition of a renovated house and was caught accepting ₹5,000. The junior engineer's involvement surfaced during the investigation. Additionally, two officials from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) were apprehended for demanding a bribe of ₹3.5 lakh to revoke a notice against a complainant. The CBI's actions follow the arrest of MCD Shahdara North zone deputy commissioner Lt Col Abhishek Kumar Mishra and administrative officer Divyanshu Gautam, who were charged with soliciting a bribe of ₹4 lakh from suspended employees. Mishra has since been suspended and replaced by Mamta Yadav.
