The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has suspended Colonel Abhishek Kumar Mishra, the deputy commissioner of the Shahdara North zone, following his arrest by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on March 31. He, along with administrative officer Devanshu Gautam, was accused of demanding a ₹4 lakh (approximately $4,800 USD) bribe. The CBI's investigation revealed that Mishra was the inquiry officer overseeing a complaint against two suspended employees, who alleged that Gautam solicited the bribe on behalf of Mishra to influence their inquiry report favorably. The CBI conducted a sting operation on March 30, which led to Gautam's arrest. Following the incident, Mamta Yadav, the assessor and collector of the MCD, will temporarily assume Mishra's responsibilities in addition to her current role, as per an order dated April 2.
