In Mumbai, the special court under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) has denied the discharge of Habiba Hussain Khan, a female gangster also known as Didi, in a ₹50 lakh (approximately $60,000 USD) extortion case linked to the notorious Chhota Rajan gang. Special judge NR Pradhan ruled that there are sufficient grounds to proceed against Khan, emphasizing that the law does not allow for a mini trial at this stage. The charges stem from a July 2021 FIR filed by a builder who reported threats to his life and demands for money and property. The police allege that Khan assisted the main accused, Yusuf Suleman Kadri (also known as Yusuf Bachkana), by providing the victim's contact information and gathering details about his project in Panvel. The court's decision was based on evidence presented in the chargesheet, including Khan's alleged role in the extortion scheme and her confession under MCOCA. The court stated that the admissibility of her confession and other evidence will be evaluated during the trial, which will now proceed under MCOCA.
