Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta convened a meeting with officials from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to assess the current sanitation and waste management conditions in the city. During the meeting, Gupta issued directives for the redevelopment of nearly 1,000 public toilets to enhance hygiene standards. The establishment of advanced waste-to-energy plants in Ghazipur, Narela, Okhla, and Tehkhand was also discussed, aimed at modernizing waste processing and alleviating landfill pressures. These plants have received government approval, and detailed reports are being prepared to initiate work. Additionally, three new gobar gas plants are planned at Goyla Dairy, Ghogha, and Ghazipur to promote sustainable waste disposal. The Chief Minister emphasized the need for a strict mechanism to recover fines from those responsible for littering and called for improved coordination between the MCD and the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) for effective cleaning of marketplaces. Special campaigns will target garbage removal along railway tracks, and experienced agencies will be tasked with road construction and repair to ensure quality work. Senior officials were instructed to monitor the implementation of these initiatives closely and ensure timely project completion.
