The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) is set to develop green belts along the Dwarka Expressway with an investment of ₹8 crore. This project aims to plant 20,000 trees and 300,000 shrubs across a 15-kilometer stretch on both sides of the expressway. The initiative comes in response to complaints from residents regarding incomplete green belts along the service roads. To ensure the plants thrive, GMDA plans to install a pipeline for recycled water supply, which will be more cost-effective than using water tankers. Currently, GMDA has developed only 25% of the total green belt area of 712,364 square meters in the region, with 52% remaining partially developed. Residents, including Sunil Sareen, vice president of the Resident Welfare Association of Imperial Garden Society, have welcomed the proposal, emphasizing the urgent need for improved green spaces to combat dust pollution in Gurugram, Haryana, India.
