A heartwarming rescue mission has brought a cat and dog together after they were saved from the frontline of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. Soldiers from the 14th Separate Mechanised Brigade evacuated the pets using a drone, transporting them approximately 12 kilometers to safety. During the operation, one soldier reassured the cat, noting her contentment as she purred. The animal welfare group UAnimals praised the soldiers for their bravery in rescuing these vulnerable animals. Meanwhile, research from Mariia Martsiv at Ivan Franko National University in Lviv indicates that the war has significantly impacted animal behavior, with dogs near the frontlines exhibiting wolf-like traits. The ongoing conflict has made life increasingly difficult for pets, with many animals adapting to survive in a war-torn environment, particularly smaller breeds that are less likely to trigger mines.
