On Thursday, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) executed a demolition drive targeting unauthorized constructions near Sainik Farm in South Delhi, recovering approximately 83 acres of land within the Tilpath Valley Biodiversity Park. According to DDA officials, 23 farmhouses were demolished as part of efforts to reclaim government land and enhance the park's green cover. However, residents reported that the DDA arrived at dawn and only partially demolished two farmhouses and some jhuggis, with some structures remaining due to active judicial stay orders. Hardeep Singh, president of the Western Avenue Residents’ Welfare Association, stated that the DDA's actions were questionable as the land ownership is disputed in court. One affected homeowner, Rajeev Wadhwa, emphasized that he has lived in the area for 28 years and criticized the DDA for not conducting a proper land demarcation survey. The Tilpath Valley Biodiversity Park is part of a network aimed at restoring degraded forest land.
