The push for Piped Natural Gas (PNG) adoption in Panchkula, Haryana, has not gained significant traction, with many areas still lacking infrastructure. With a population of 6.91 lakh (691,000), only select pockets, including Sector 5 of Mansa Devi Complex and Sector 27, have received PNG connections. IndianOil-Adani Gas Pvt Ltd (IOAGPL) is responsible for the PNG services, but the rollout has lagged behind initial timelines set for completion in 2023. The municipal corporation has recently intervened to expedite work, with expectations for expansion into Barwala and other areas. Haryana's Chief Minister, Nayab Singh Saini, reported that 3.32 lakh (332,000) PNG connections have been established across the state, with plans to double this number soon. However, residents, including Rakesh Aggarwal of Panchkula Vikas Manch, express concerns over incomplete coverage, stating that not all households have been connected despite the laid pipelines.
