Rajiv Singh, a 50-year-old advocate and former village head from Devari village in Mirzapur district, Uttar Pradesh, was shot dead by two unidentified assailants on Saturday morning. Singh was returning home from his routine morning walk when he was approached near the Sadbhavna Nagar intersection. One assailant shot him in the chest with a country-made pistol before both fled the scene on a motorcycle. Despite being rushed to a divisional hospital, he was declared dead on arrival. Superintendent of Police (SP) Aparna Rajat Kaushik confirmed that a first information report (FIR) has been filed based on a complaint from Singh's family, who named the suspects. Initial investigations suggest that a dispute over village issues may have been the motive for the murder. The shooting was captured on local CCTV, and police are actively pursuing the suspects.
