A scandal involving alleged sexual harassment at a Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) unit in Nashik, Maharashtra, has led to the arrest of nine individuals, including eight Muslim men. The controversy began when a young woman reported incidents of sexual exploitation and harassment by her colleagues at the Mumbai Naka area BPO, spanning from 2022 to 2026. Following her complaint, the Nashik Police initiated a broader investigation, resulting in a total of nine complaints filed by eight women and one man, detailing various forms of harassment, including inappropriate remarks and coercion. The police have arrested several suspects, including team leaders and an Assistant General Manager from the company's HR department, for failing to act on the complaints. Political reactions have intensified, with leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party calling the situation 'corporate jihad' and demanding stringent measures. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis described the allegations as serious, emphasizing the need for accountability in corporate environments. A Special Investigation Team has been established to further investigate the allegations.
