On April 5, police in Jammu and Kashmir arrested six alleged drug peddlers in a crackdown across Reasi, Poonch, and Jammu districts. The action was prompted by the circulation of videos on social media showing drug sales at the Purana Daroor market near Katra town in Reasi. Authorities apprehended four individuals—Rashpal Singh, Uttam Singh, and Sohal Lal from Katra, along with Joginder Singh from Kanjali—recovering a consignment of banned tablets. Additionally, Iftikhar Hussain was arrested in Mandi, Poonch, with 8.80 grams of heroin, while Uttra Kumar Suryawanshi from Chhattisgarh was detained at Karloop bridge in Jammu with one kilogram of ganja. All suspects have been charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
