In a tragic incident in Gurugram, Haryana, India, a 25-year-old man self-immolated outside the Sector 40 police station after being accused of theft by his former girlfriend. The victim had been summoned to the police station following her claims that he stole cash, a laptop, and other items from her home in Sector 31. He arrived at the police station on Wednesday evening but set himself on fire after parking his car. Suffering from 75% burn injuries, he succumbed to his injuries the next day. Prior to the incident, he sent a video to his sister, alleging that his former partner was implicating him in a false case. Gurugram police are working to unlock his mobile phone for further evidence and will register an FIR if his family claims abetment to suicide. The victim had previously been in a relationship with the woman and they were engaged to marry but separated due to disputes a year ago.
