In a significant move to enhance public safety, the Pune city police have externed 10 habitual offenders from Zone 7, which encompasses areas like Kharadi, Lohgaon, Yerawada, and Wagholi. These individuals, identified as repeat offenders with multiple criminal cases, are barred from entering Pune city and district limits for a specified duration. The decision was made by Deputy Commissioner of Police Somay Munde, based on recommendations from local police stations. The externed offenders are linked to various crimes, including the illegal liquor trade and gambling, which have been causing disturbances in residential areas. Over the past few months, more than 100 repeat offenders have been externed from Zone 7 as part of ongoing efforts to maintain law and order amid the region's rapid urban expansion. The police have urged residents to report any sightings of the externed individuals, emphasizing the importance of community vigilance in crime prevention. DCP Munde reiterated the commitment to ensuring peace and public safety through strict preventive measures against habitual offenders.
