Tanveer Ahmad Chopan, a 25-year-old from Pogal in Ramban district, Jammu and Kashmir, is missing after reportedly jumping into Bisleri Nullah to escape an attack by four men. The attack occurred on Sunday around 1:30 PM, leading to public outrage as Chopan's family blocked the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) for over three hours. Local residents allege that the attackers are cow vigilantes, known for previous similar incidents. Authorities have arrested the four suspects—Surjeet Singh, Sandeep Singh, Digvijay Singh, and Kewal Singh—and a special investigation team has been formed to probe the case. Ramban district commissioner Mohammad Ilyas Khan confirmed that Chopan had permission to ferry cattle, and search efforts are being conducted by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), police, and local volunteers. Former NSUI president Advocate Feroz Khan has demanded strict action against the accused, while senior Congress leader Salman Nizami expressed shock over the incident.
