The tragedy occurred on Friday when a boat carrying 38 pilgrims from Ludhiana, Punjab, capsized near Kesi Ghat. On Monday, two more bodies were recovered, identified as Yash Bhalla (23) and Monica Tandon (25), both residents of Ludhiana. Yash was a budding dholak player who had long wished to visit Vrindavan. The search operation involves teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and private divers, utilizing drones to cover the area from Kesi Ghat to Gokul Barrage. The boat reportedly capsized after colliding with a pontoon bridge, and a probe has been ordered by the district magistrate, Pankaj Kumar, to investigate the incident. Among the survivors, eight were hospitalized, and one injured individual, Rekha Jain (50), is in critical condition after being transferred to PGIMER, Chandigarh.
