The Rail Coach Factory located in Kapurthala, Punjab, has successfully manufactured its first Vande Bharat Express train, a significant achievement as it is the first Vande Bharat train produced outside the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The semi-high-speed train will soon undergo oscillation trial runs to evaluate its ride quality, safety parameters, and overall dynamic performance before it can be inducted into regular passenger service. This initiative is part of the Make in India program, showcasing India's growing capabilities in rail technology. The Vande Bharat train features ergonomically designed reclining seats, large panoramic windows, and fully air-conditioned coaches, ensuring passenger comfort. It also includes advanced safety features such as an aerosol-based fire detection system, automatic sliding doors, and a crash-hardened memory for driver-guard communication. Since 2018, a total of 97 Vande Bharat chair car trains have been manufactured, all previously produced at the Chennai facility. The train is designed for higher acceleration with a maximum speed of 180 KMPH.
