Five individuals have been arrested in connection with a grenade blast that occurred outside the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) office in Chandigarh, Punjab. The arrests were made by the Punjab Police's counter-intelligence wing in collaboration with Chandigarh Police, who solved the case within three days. The suspects, identified as Balwinder Lal alias Shami, Jasvir Singh alias Jassi, Charanjit Singh alias Channi, Rubal Chauhan, and Mandeep alias Abhijot Sharma, are linked to a module allegedly backed by Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and directed by handlers located in Portugal and Germany. Police recovered a hand grenade and a .30 bore Zigana pistol along with ten cartridges from the arrested suspects. Two key perpetrators, Gurtej Singh and Amanpreet Singh, are still on the run, prompting ongoing raids to capture them. The attackers reportedly coordinated the execution of the blast under the instruction of their foreign handlers. The incident, which occurred around 5 PM, damaged nearby vehicles but fortunately resulted in no casualties. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is also involved in the investigation to uncover the full extent of the network and identify additional operatives.
