In a significant development, five individuals have been arrested for the murder of Sameer Khalifa (36), a businessman from Kanji House Colony, in Palamu district, Jharkhand, India. Khalifa was shot dead around 10:45 PM on Thursday at Nagar Palika Bazar, with police attributing the motive to a land dispute. According to Senior Police Officer Reeshma Rameson, the main accused had taken a contract worth ₹2 lakh (approximately $2,400 USD) for the assassination. Four of the arrested individuals reportedly have criminal records. During police operations aimed at apprehending the main suspect, a brief encounter occurred, resulting in the suspect sustaining gunshot wounds to his leg. The police also confiscated two pistols, three cartridges, a motorcycle, and ₹39,400 (approximately $475 USD) in cash from the suspects.
