Delhi Police have apprehended two individuals, Pankaj Yadav and Satyam Yadav, from Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, for allegedly defrauding a man out of ₹1.25 lakh (approximately $1,500 USD). The incident occurred after the victim, Arvind, purchased an electronic shaver online on October 2, 2025, which he found defective. Seeking assistance, he contacted a number that appeared to be the customer care of the e-commerce brand on October 4, 2025. The fraudsters convinced him to share his phone screen, which led to unauthorized withdrawals of ₹85,000 from one bank account and ₹40,000 from another. An FIR was lodged on November 13, 2025, prompting an investigation that traced the suspects' bank accounts. The police revealed that the gang had been operating by posting fake customer care numbers online and tricking victims into sharing their screens. Two mobile phones and SIM cards used in the scam have been recovered, and further investigations are ongoing.
