The Ministry of Railways is actively redeveloping the New Delhi railway station, aiming to enhance its capacity and passenger amenities under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS). Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw shared a 26-second video on social media, highlighting the progress of the redevelopment. The new station design will facilitate the movement of up to 700,000 passengers daily and will include two new station buildings with a total built-up area of approximately 1,09,000 sq. m. To ensure security, around 1,500 AI cameras will be installed throughout the station, with a control room for real-time monitoring of unusual activities. The redevelopment also plans to integrate Bharat Taxi services and improve signage for better passenger navigation. Additionally, the new infrastructure will feature designated holding areas and seamless connections with various city transport modes, including the Metro.
