The Delhi government has introduced a draft Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy for 2026, which aims to encourage the adoption of electric vehicles in the capital. Under this policy, buyers of electric two-wheelers will be eligible for a subsidy of up to ₹30,000 in the first year following the policy's notification. The subsidy structure includes ₹10,000 per kWh, capped at ₹30,000 for the first year, with decreasing amounts in subsequent years. Additionally, electric auto-rickshaws will receive incentives starting at ₹50,000 in the first year, while electric four-wheeled e-trucks can receive up to ₹1 lakh in the first year. The policy also proposes exemptions from road tax and registration fees for most electric vehicles registered in Delhi during the policy period. Feedback from the public and stakeholders is encouraged within 30 days of the policy's release, with responses to be submitted via email or post.
