Indian fishermen returning from Iran have commended the Indian government and the Indian Embassy for their assistance during a chaotic situation in the region. Rajesh Patel, a fisherman from Valsad, Gujarat, highlighted the embassy's efforts in facilitating their safe evacuation after four years in Iran. Another fisherman from Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu, described the perilous conditions they faced, noting that bombs fell nearby daily. Union Minister for Commerce Piyush Goyal announced that over 600 Indian fishermen have been evacuated, with the operation executed under the directive of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) reported that they have facilitated the movement of 2,180 Indian nationals, including students and fishermen, from Iran to Armenia and Azerbaijan for their return to India. The fishermen were welcomed back at Chennai International Airport, where they expressed their gratitude for the support received during the crisis.
