Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL) is significantly increasing its piped natural gas (PNG) connections across Delhi-NCR, responding to supply disruptions caused by the ongoing conflict in West Asia. The company, led by Managing Director Kamal Kishore Chatiwal, is ramping up daily connections from 2,200 to a target of 5,000. This expansion includes connecting police stations and fast-food outlets, which have been adversely affected by limited LPG supplies. IGL has already linked over 100 fast-food outlets and aims to connect 400 more. The company currently operates a pipeline network of over 28,000 kilometers throughout various regions, including Delhi, Noida, and Ghaziabad, serving over 3 million households. With the government mandating a switch to PNG in areas where it is available, households must surrender their LPG connections within 90 days if they have access to both fuels. This shift aims to reduce dependence on LPG, which is largely imported, particularly from Gulf countries.
