During its fourth Board of Directors meeting in Dhaka, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed Mehidy Hasan Miraz as the captain of the One Day International (ODI) team until the ICC Cricket World Cup 2027, while Litton Das will continue to lead the Twenty20 International (T20I) side until the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2028. Najmul Hossain Shanto and Saif Hassan were appointed as vice-captains for the respective teams. The BCB also appointed former spinner Mohammad Rafique as a specialist spin-bowling coach for a one-year term, enhancing the coaching staff. Mehidy's leadership has already yielded positive results, including series victories against the West Indies in 2025 and Pakistan earlier this year. Despite Bangladesh's withdrawal from the 2026 T20 World Cup due to security concerns, Litton remains at the helm of the T20I squad. Additionally, the BCB is modernizing cricket management through the introduction of a new Human Resources policy and digital platforms for player data analysis, aimed at improving decision-making processes. The board also plans to reintroduce the BCB Annual Awards Programme to honor exceptional performances in Bangladesh cricket and will launch a scholarship program to support sports journalists.
