Since the formation of a new government in February, the BCB has faced scrutiny, with several board members being investigated and some resigning. However, Islam, who has played 13 Test matches and 39 One Day Internationals (ODIs) for Bangladesh, has stated that he will not resign voluntarily. He believes in the integrity of his team and is committed to serving Bangladesh cricket. Islam has not yet met with the investigative committee, citing scheduling conflicts, but has submitted his responses in writing. In a related decision, the BCB has confirmed that Litton Das will continue as the T20I captain and Mehidy Hasan Miraz will remain the ODI captain until the next T20 World Cup in 2028, emphasizing the need for consistent leadership during this tumultuous period.
