On Saturday, police brought two accused, Vijay Kumar (22) from Khokhran village and Lucky (27) from Iraq village, to Ludhiana, Punjab, after their arrest in Bihar for the murder of Congress leader Parminder Tiwari. The murder occurred on March 29 near Malwa Chowk, where Tiwari was attacked with an axe. The motive behind the killing was a dispute over a 15-square-yard parcel of panchayat land, which had created ongoing enmity between the parties involved. Following the attack, the accused fled Punjab, abandoning their motorcycle and weapon, and traveled to Bihar where they were eventually located and arrested. Police have confirmed the recovery of the axe and motorcycle used in the crime, but stated that no political angle has emerged in the investigation.
