Harjeet Singh Himmat Singh, the alleged mastermind of a drug and arms smuggling racket, was arrested by the Navi Mumbai Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) in Baba Bakala, Punjab. His capture followed a two-day operation based on technical surveillance, and he was subsequently brought to Navi Mumbai under tight security. Singh has been remanded in police custody until Monday. The case is registered at Taloja police station under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 (NDPS Act) and the Arms Act. This arrest is part of an ongoing investigation into a larger cross-border narcotics network suspected of using drones to smuggle drugs into India. Earlier, on March 16, three associates of Singh were arrested in Pune, where authorities seized high-grade heroin, a Glock pistol, and live cartridges. Investigators have found that Singh was in contact with these individuals through WhatsApp and had significant financial transactions with them, totaling ₹14 lakh (approximately $17,000 USD).
