The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court has scheduled the next hearing in the citizenship case against Rahul Gandhi, a prominent leader of the Indian National Congress party and Member of Parliament from Rae Bareli, for April 15. The case was initiated by S Vignesh Shishir, a Bharatiya Janata Party worker from Karnataka, who is challenging a January 28 order from the Special MP-MLA Court in Lucknow that dismissed his plea to register a First Information Report (FIR) against Gandhi. The court ruled that it lacked jurisdiction over citizenship matters. Shishir's complaint alleges violations of the Indian Penal Code, the Official Secrets Act, the Foreigners Act, and the Passport Act. Initially filed in Rae Bareli, the case was transferred to Lucknow on December 17, 2025, at the request of the petitioner.
