The administration of Gautam Budh Nagar district in Uttar Pradesh, India, has announced new wage and welfare assurances for industrial workers to enhance labor security and compliance with regulations. District Magistrate Medha Roopam stated that overtime will now be compensated at double the rate without deductions, and workers will receive guaranteed weekly offs. If they work on Sundays, they will also be paid at double rates. Additionally, all factories are mandated to create internal committees to address sexual harassment, headed by a woman, and to install complaint boxes for workers. Salaries must be disbursed in a single payment by the 10th of each month, and workers will receive payslips. Bonus payments are to be credited to bank accounts by November 30. A dedicated control room has been established for workers to report grievances and seek assistance. This initiative follows recent protests by workers for better compensation, highlighting the administration's commitment to ensuring industrial peace and worker rights.
