In celebration of its 200th anniversary, London, Ontario, is launching the Forest City Facts initiative, spearheaded by the London and Middlesex Historical Society in collaboration with Western University’s public history program. Students from the program have created 200 vignettes that spotlight influential people, places, and events that have shaped the city. Each of the seven students produced 10 fact sheets, contributing to a total of 70 entries that cover various aspects of London's history, from arts and music to local businesses. The project aims to not only preserve local stories but also to engage the community in sharing their narratives. Future plans include displaying these facts on lawn signs across the city and at community events, fostering a deeper connection between residents and their history. This initiative is seen as a way to inspire discussions about the city's past and future, reinforcing the idea that history is a living narrative shaped by its community.
