On Friday morning, a private school van in Purkazi, Muzaffarnagar district, Uttar Pradesh, India, caught fire while transporting children. The incident occurred around 8 am, and initial investigations suggest that a short circuit may have caused the blaze. The driver, Amit (45), was alerted by the children's screams as smoke filled the vehicle. He managed to stop the van and evacuate the children—Avantika (5), Agyaans (4), Ayan (3), and Suryansh (4)—before the flames engulfed it. Local residents assisted in pulling the children to safety. All injured individuals were rushed to a nearby hospital and later referred to a private facility in Uttarakhand for specialized care. Fortunately, they are now out of danger but remain under observation for their burn injuries. Authorities are investigating the van's fitness and adherence to safety norms, and the school management is in contact with the families of the injured.
