The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has announced that the first phase of the census will occur from May 16 to June 14, 2026. This phase will involve comprehensive household surveys aimed at collecting vital information about families, including the number of members, ages, education levels, occupations, and housing conditions. Municipal Commissioner Vijay Suryavanshi emphasized that this data is essential for accurately understanding the city's population and social structure. Following this initial phase, the actual census will commence, focusing on verifying and finalizing the collected data. To ensure the effectiveness of the census, a training campaign for field trainers was recently completed, equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge. Deputy Commissioner Sachin Pawar highlighted the importance of using digital tools for data collection, which will enhance the transparency and reliability of the process. The training sessions included practical components to prepare enumerators for potential challenges in the field, ensuring that the census is conducted smoothly and accurately.
