Starting from the 2026-27 academic session, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will implement a three-language formula for Class 6 students, as part of the National Education Policy (NEP). This initiative mandates that students learn at least two Indian languages. Additionally, a two-level system for mathematics and science will be introduced for Class 9, allowing students to choose between standard and advanced levels. The standard curriculum will include a common 80-mark examination, while the advanced level will feature a separate 25-mark paper aimed at assessing higher-order thinking skills. Importantly, performance in the advanced paper will not contribute to the overall aggregate but will be reported separately on mark sheets. The first board exams reflecting this new structure will be conducted in 2028 for Class 10 students.
