In light of the recent cancellation of school board examinations in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), universities are swiftly adapting their admission processes to support students. Major international examination boards, including the Indian Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), British boards, and the International Baccalaureate (IB), have canceled exams, impacting thousands of Grade 12 students. In response, higher education institutions are accepting predicted scores and alternative grading methods while extending application deadlines. For instance, Curtin University Dubai is assessing applications based on predicted grades, emphasizing that access to education should not be limited by external circumstances. Similarly, Amity University and Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) Dubai are adopting flexible admission criteria and encouraging students to apply without waiting for final results. Financial support has also surged, with MAHE announcing a Dh25 million scholarship initiative. Universities are committed to maintaining academic standards while ensuring that no student faces disadvantages due to these unprecedented challenges.
