Mumbai's metro system is undergoing significant operational changes with the inauguration of metro line 9, which connects Kashigaon to Dahisar East. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated phase 1 of metro line 9 and metro line 2B on Tuesday, with commercial operations starting Wednesday. The integration of metro lines 7 and 9 will allow for direct connectivity across key suburban corridors, while metro line 2B will enhance access to important Harbour Line areas. The operational restructuring aims to ensure seamless passenger movement and reduce overlaps, with metro line 7 and 9 expected to operate 276 trips on weekdays. Metro line 2A will run 289 trips on weekdays, and metro line 2B will provide 209 daily services. These developments are part of a broader vision to create a fully integrated 337 km metro network in Mumbai, improving travel convenience and supporting balanced passenger distribution across the system.
