The Mumbai metro network will expand with the launch of Metro Lines 2B and 9 on April 8, 2023. Metro Line 9 will be the first in Thane district, while Line 2B will enhance connectivity to areas like Chembur. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) announced that both corridors will operate from 5:50 AM to 11 PM, with improved service frequencies. Line 2A will operate independently, while Line 7 will integrate with Line 9, providing direct routes between Andheri East and Mira-Bhayandar. The phased opening of these lines is a significant step towards a fully integrated metro network in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, with the aim of distributing passenger loads more efficiently.
