Harshit Bhatt, a 23-year-old student from Amity University, drowned in a 20-foot-deep water-filled vacant plot in Noida Sector 94. The autopsy confirmed that he died from asphyxia due to drowning, with sand and mud found in his windpipe, indicating he struggled in the water. Bhatt had gone to the site with three friends after finishing an exam, where they reportedly consumed alcohol. Witnesses stated that he initially stayed on the edge of the pit before moving into deeper water. After 45 minutes of rescue efforts, he was taken to a hospital but was declared dead upon arrival. While his friends were found to be under the influence, it remains unclear if Bhatt was as well, as the autopsy cannot determine alcohol levels post-drowning. His family expressed suspicion of foul play due to marks on his body, which police attributed to bushes where his body was found. As of now, no formal complaint has been filed, and no FIR has been registered.
