Harshit Bhatt, a 21-year-old student at Amity University, drowned in a water-filled pit at an abandoned construction site in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India. The incident occurred when Harshit and three friends visited the area to celebrate after their examinations. Despite knowing how to swim, he entered the deep water to bathe and tragically drowned. Local police, led by Deputy Commissioner of Police Saad Miyan Khan, reported that rescue efforts were made, but Harshit was declared dead at a nearby hospital. His family is questioning why he chose to swim in such dangerous conditions, especially given that there were beer bottles found at the site. Harshit, a final-year student of the Amity School of Physical Education, is survived by his parents and younger sister. This incident is part of a concerning pattern in Noida, where similar drownings have occurred due to unprotected water-filled pits at construction sites, raising serious safety concerns.
