A significant landslide occurred on Monday, blocking the Bagheigarh-Chanju road in the Churah subdivision of Chamba district, Himachal Pradesh. The landslide, which took place near Chursiyo, has effectively severed access to Chanju and Dehra Gram Panchayats, leading to long queues of vehicles on both sides. Eyewitnesses reported that small stones had been falling prior to the landslide, prompting locals to halt vehicular movement, which prevented any injuries during the incident. Currently, officials are working to clear the debris that has completely obstructed the road. The local administration has advised the public to avoid the route and maintain a safe distance from the affected area. Meanwhile, the Shimla Meteorological Office has forecasted a wet spell from April 16 to 19 due to a fresh Western Disturbance affecting the Western Himalayan region. Himachal Pradesh has already recorded 151.4 mm of rain during the pre-monsoon season, surpassing the normal average of 140.4 mm.
