The Pune division of the Central Railway (CR) is undertaking a ₹398 crore yard re-modelling initiative at Pune railway station, aimed at reducing congestion and improving operational efficiency. Divisional railway manager Rajesh Kumar Verma announced that the project will introduce six new platforms, extend existing ones, and develop additional entry and exit points with modern passenger amenities. This phased approach is designed to minimize disruption during train operations while enhancing capacity. In the financial year 2025-26, the Pune division reported a total revenue of ₹2,238.20 crore, a 3.7% increase from the previous year, with passenger revenue rising 13% to ₹1,657.24 crore. The division also ramped up special train services during festive seasons, operating 1,109 Diwali and Chhath specials, along with other seasonal services. Infrastructure improvements include the expansion of coaching terminals and enhancements to passenger amenities under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. Notable safety milestones were achieved, including the elimination of level crossings and the installation of over 500 CCTV cameras to bolster security. Verma emphasized the division's commitment to improving service delivery and ensuring passenger safety.
